The things people whine about, I swear...
Because it's been a while since I've messed with layout-ing, I think I'm gonna give it another shot. I just need to think of something to center it on... Anyone got any ideas? ♥
See This? This is the kind of thing that really just drives me up the wall. Let me fully explain myself.
Yes, it irks me that people blame M-rated video games for violence. Yes, it irks me that they're not cracking down on TV and movies like they are video games. But when people are throwing tantrums because someone keeps blaming video games... doesn't that sort of make it worse for your case? People don't listen to whiners. Sadly, they hardly listen to honest debates, either, so I really don't know what to do about it. Just... not this. This article just gives me the impression of people getting mad at people for getting mad at other people who are mad at other people who think video games are Satan's spawn.
I am tired of reading all of this he-said-she-said. In the long run? All I want is for video games to have the same sort of mature treatment as film and TV. You get carded to go into R-rated movies, at least here in my state. If that means showing an ID to get an M-rated game? I am all for it. If a parent wants to get their kid this M-rated game? Then let them. But when they turn around and blame the video game industry for exposing their child to "such horrible atrocities," I want someone to turn around and say, "You bought the game. You were warned. There's a sticker on the box. It's your problem." Stop taking these sue-happy adults seriously, world. It's what the movies have done. Why can't video game companies do it, too?
I read something else at some point where someone tried to buy... What was it, Metal Gear Solid? It was at Best Buy, and they wouldn't give it to him because his little brother was there and they were suspicious he was buying the game for his minor. As it turns out, the kid had no idea what was going on. Best Buy still gave him trouble, though, and ultimately never gave him the game. On the one hand? Good for Best Buy for picking up on it. On the other hand? Give the man his game after he's explained himself. Don't be dicks about it.
.... Wow, my argument is going all over the place with no coherent breakdown. And I'm probably contradicting myself some, too. My bad.
Let me get off of my soap box now, lest I destroy something or devalue my own rant. Before I do, though? Just to summarize? M-rated games aren't the root of the problem. I'll buy that they don't help the problem, but neither do violent movies. If you're going to give one flack, why not the other? I'm a firm believer that it rests with the parents to teach their kids what's right and wrong. And if the kid can't separate fact from fiction later in life? I think you did something wrong in your attempt to raise them.
And stop wanking about wankers who are wanking about wank. No matter the medium. Por favor.
