Ah, computers.
I am of the opinion that every single mouse attached to a campus computer is nothing but a piece of crap that they bought for 1/2 off at some hole-in-the-wall computer store because it was the best and cheapest deal they could find. I am so serious. What kind of mouse won't go left unless you pick it up and roll the ball yourself? ... Moving on.

I don't necessarily need a new laptop, but I want one and I'm pretty sure I have the funds (of my own money, thank you) to get one. The thing is, I want to build my own. I'm tired of pre-built Dells that only do so much for me. I highly doubt it, but do any of you know where/how I could get started with this? I'm thinking it could be a winter break project or something...

Also, anyone know any decent ways of getting a network to work better for you? I don't even care if it's illegal at this point~ ♥

My best suggestion is to talk with Kurt and/or Sarah at some point and I know they can help you out. I'm using Linux (Ubuntu version) and I love it. You can do a lot more with it than with Windows and it's way more secure than Windows (no viruses exist for Linux, so no anti-virus/anti-spyware needed at all). Kurt said that he personally would chose Linux over Mac and definitely over Windows. It's free too. I believe you just download it from online, burn it to a cd and then reboot with the cd in the drive and make sure your computer boots from the desk not the hard drive and then the installation process starts. But yeah, talk with Kurt, especially about the building your own computer.~Sophia

Lol. Nah, you're good, I knew you went by Sophia here.

See, I'm fine with Windows because Linux isn't going to be compatible with my games. Yes, I realize, I'm a nutcase and my laptop should be for school instead... etc. But I'm not gonna pretend I won't be picking up various games in the process~ Been wanting to give Ubuntu a try anyway. Maybe I'll dual-boot... Hmm.

But yeah, I'll totally talk to Kurt (and Sarah, but I don't know her well at all). Thanks for the info!

Hopefully partitioning your hard drive will work. He tried to partition mine so I could keep XP for Absolute Obedience (lol), but it refused to do what he wanted. I'll get by without it for now (not that I would have the time to play it anyway). They do have some emulators, but they're really slow (and I do mean really). There will, of course, eventually be emulators that work 100% with Linux, it'll just take a few years. Ah, I forgot you don't know Sarah, but you'll most likely get along with her fine. They share an apartment (not dating though or anything like that) way over on Gadsden St.~Sophia
